Founded in 2023 in Berlin, Germany by Laurenz Muster, GHILLIE emerged from the belief that there is already an excess of clothing in existence. Instead of accelerating this cycle by introducing new products, GHILLIE takes a different approach: rethinking, reinterpreting, and repositioning what already exists within a contemporary context.
At its core is a focus on authentic surplus garments - pieces defined by history, function, and substance. These items are not simply altered, but carefully deconstructed and reassembled. Through this process, new perspectives, silhouettes, and ways of understanding clothing are created. Each piece carries traces of its past while simultaneously becoming part of a new narrative.
GHILLIE operates outside of traditional norms, deliberately rejecting perfectionism and rigid structures. Imperfections, disruptions, and incompleteness are not flaws, but essential elements of the design language. The creative process remains raw and intuitive, driven by the idea that meaning is formed through transformation.
The goal is to create timeless garments that are not driven by trends, but by perspective. Silhouettes are expanded, proportions challenged, and functionality reinterpreted. The result is a visual language grounded in the idea that innovation does not always come from creating something new, but from redefining what already exists.
GHILLIE is not a fixed concept, but an evolving process. Each collection, each garment, represents a moment within an ongoing transformation.
